For years I have successfully used smart plugs to monitor power and control devices.
Recently I bought a 2 plug + 2 light bundle.
1 bulb was faulty. In the process of diagnosing that faulty bulb I updated firmware on the bulbs. I also updated the firmware on the 2 plugs and a 3 others I have.
The bulb was replaced by customer support.
HOWEVER a few days later one of my older plugs failed. It was slightly warm, something I have never noticed before. It will now not power on at all. This was only on a table lamp so not so serious.
Then about a week later (1st of August) another plug failed, this time causing chaos. I could not resolve this as I was away on holiday. Then a few more days later (7th August) and a third plug failed, this was also a painful power loss.
On return from holiday I can confirm both plugs are as dead as a doornail.
I’m pretty certain I set them to this firmware version
Program Version 12.2.0(tasmota)
Build Date & Time 2023-07-22T17:50:15
I also have 2 of the new plugs that are on 12.2.0 - however I have barely used them and they do still power up. Given 3 with that firmware version have died in the past few weeks should I revert them back to V10 ?
Please advise.
Note I still have several plugs at
Program Version 10.0.0(tasmota)
Build Date & Time 2021-11-16T21:53:24
they are completely fine.
Also why does 12.2.0 result in failure ?
Very keen to know as I have 3 bricked and totally non responsive due to 12.2.0
Many thanks
