3 more hours of trying to fix this and I am stuck… I got it working by following what MK says about to install the initial basic configuration. The WiFi info did not load properly with that so I went though the ESPHome Web configurator (initial setup) via USB to add the WiFi manually. After that I was able to “take ownership” of the device in HA.
The wifi still did not populate correctly in the LocalDeck configuration. The WiFI was pointing to a “!secrets” or “secrets.yaml” from the LocalDeck configurator. I said in a previous post when I was in ESPHome Compiler, I accidently hit “Update All” in the top right corner, next to the lock symbol that says “SECRETS”. That is where this all started. When you previously selected the “SECRETS” lock symbol, it would only show a few lines of code with your SSID and password. Now it has the full default LocalDeck configuration for some reason, 1530 lines.
I deleted the LocalDeck configurator and it had a toggle option to "Also permanently delete this addon’s data” so I chose that option and uninstalled it. I reinstalled it and the same incorrect information came back in the “SECRETS” file.
I then manually wrote in my SSID and password into the LocalDeck configuration, and it worked…. Kinda. The USB-C was hooked into my computer for power… I went to take a break from this mess and the computer went to sleep and lost power. When I brought it back up, it powered on and nothing worked. It would not connect to the IP address.
I’ve since deleted both the ESPHome Compiler and LocalDeck Configurator Add-Ons from Home Assistant and selected "Also permanently delete this addon’s data” for both.
Is there a “reset” button on the device where I can just start over like when it came out of the box?? I’ve deleted everything in HA that I added when I got the LocalDeck. I want to go back in time and try it all over again with the steps that Adam put on YouTube with the blinking corner key… how do I get there??
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!
