ESPHome Plug reset

Just got a couple of ESPHome plugs and failed to put either on my network. When I’m providing network credentials, I’m kicked off the plug’s network after about 10 seconds. Subsequently I can’t rejoin with an ‘Unable to connect’ message.
Anyway I can reset the plugs and have another go? Sadly they think they’re configured and the blue light is now solid on or off.

Once you’ve added your network credentials to the plug, it will reboot and stop broadcasting its own hotspot. This normally means it’s connected to your network. If Home Assistant isn’t automatically detecting it, please try going into your router settings and seeing if the plugs are connected to your network.

If they are connected, you should be able to manually add them to Home Assistant using the IP address.

I’m afraid the ESPHome plugs don’t have a way to reset themselves. However, if they’re not broadcasting the captive portal, that would suggest that they are connected to a network.

A bit late to the party but… I have quite a few of these now; re-flashed from Tasmota -> ESPHome and just set up latest additions that are pre-flashed with ESPHome.

I made the mistake with one of adding it to the wrong WiFi network (one specifically for WiFi connected devices to Home Assistant) - I could not access it via ESPHome / HA and because, as @RebeccaH rightly states, the plug was now connected to a wifi network (the wrong one though!), it stops broadcasting it’s own SSID…

As I could see it in my Unifi controller - I simply blocked it and it immediately began to broadcast it’s default SSID.

This may not be helpful - but it allowed me to then get it successfully connected to the correct wifi network and then ESPHome in HA found it straight away…
