AAllport saj42 How're you currently interacting with the Tasmota plugs? But yeah, MQTT broker on some host, and then you're golden NB: Interacting with the deck over MQTT is something we're yet to play with, but, there is ESPHome support!
saj42 AAllport predominantly http, occasionally via the UI and I've got 1 NodeRed schedule in HA. I'm not a fan of core HA, I find it a bit bloaty and too much for my needs but I totally get why people rave about it or delve right in. I spent a few years working with a server/client side JavaScript product so it's easy. Too old to learn yaml or more reasonable not finding the motivation ๐
AAllport saj42 Ahh, fair enough, We'll take a look at how easily they interact with such systems then!
Sean AAllport In that case will you offer a no PSU option for those of us in regions that are incompatible with your existing PSU options ?
AAllport Sean Absolutely! The bundle is ultimately just a discount for ordering everything together: You can get a deck here - https://www.mylocalbytes.com/products/localdeck And a faceplate here - https://www.mylocalbytes.com/products/localdeck-faceplate
Slychocobo Neat device, Since its going to be wireless any thoughts/options for battery power? Having a rechargable battery so the device is totally wireless would be very useful indeed.
AAllport Slychocobo It's certainly crossed our mind! The power draw on the ESP32 makes a battery-based unit a bit difficult (especially with RGB). However, we have had thoughts for a "LocalDeck Go" with a built-in battery and a powered dock to recharge it. But that's mere speculation at this point.
mjb8989 This looks really good, can you advise whether it's possible to home assistants mdi icons when configuring?
AAllport mjb8989 It's on our to-do list! I'm not happy with the Emoji Picker at the moment, so we're looking to update that. At the same time, we'll bring MDIcon support, and where possible, we'll pull the icons from your home-assistant instance when using the addon version!
AAllport We've just published an update! Itโs been a busy few days at LocalBytes HQ! So, I thought now would be a great time to give you all an update. Read more...
jburgess777 Are the switches user replaceable? Some pictures look like you use the same sockets as hot swap keyboards.
AAllport jburgess777 They are indeed! We're shipping the LocalDeck with Brown's, which will work with any standard MX key switch! The switches actually get removed to install the face-plate!
AAllport We've just published an update! We are ramping up for production, and we canโt wait! Read more...
fskelly Am I doing something wrong? Every time I want to print a faceplate label set in preparation, it keeps showing up blank :(
AAllport fskelly it keeps showing up blank :( Oh no, that sounds frustrating! It looks like the configurator on web is a little... broken ๐ฌ (It uses the same library from localdeck-config but needs me to update the dependencies manually)
fskelly Hopefully it will up and running again soon ๐- can't wait to get my piece of kit - very excited
jane_t I have just installed the Configurator as an add-in. When I visit the Add in page I get https://imgur.com/a/ej7SbHR Do I need to manually add a yaml file somewhere?
AAllport jane_t Do I need to manually add a yaml file somewhere? David Error: [GET] "/api/index-files": 500 Don't panic! We're working on a getting started video & kb article which will explain everything! In short, the configurator works hand-in-hand with the ESPHome addon. So, it'll work with an imported LocalDeck and write back to that file.
