Changing the refresh intervals?

Hi All,

I’ve recently purchased a couple smart plugs (pre flashed for esphome and got them successfully setup into home assistant.

I’m using them to monitor the current or power for TV and microwave to trigger routines or notifications to determine whether they are turned on or off.
However if noticed a fluctuations in delay between 30 seconds to 5 mins before the current is showing a rise or decrease in amps.

Is this due to an interval refresh rate in the esphome code?

The interval is controlled by this line here:

Wild fluctuations of up to 5 minutes would suggest something weird is going on, such as Wi-Fi stability or home-assistant stability.
Are all the values updating together at that interval?

I wonder if lowering the power-save setting will make things more reliable!

Thanks,
I’ve found using the readings from power instead of current achieve a faster and more reliable response.

If I need to make further tweaks I assume I’ll need to copy that yaml into my own github channel to edit then change the esphome code to point to the new location.

Are you using the home-assitant addon?
It’s possible (and recommended) to make changes by extending what we’ve published, which means you’ll still receive updates!
