mprowe This device is available from Screwfix. Does anybody know if it can be converted to use by Home Assistant much like the the units available on the Local Bytes Shop? Regards, Martin
SaaX According to Amazon reviews it's Tuya, so can be integrated into HA. I'd rather buy a standard outdoor socket and "convert" it using a Shelly Plus 1 to avoid the Tuya cloud.
mprowe SaaX Thanks for the suggestion. Had a Google around but now I'm wondering: "How do I get the Shelly in the back of a Standard Dual Socket Outdoor Box"? From memory, there isn't much room for anything other than the supply cable(s). Regards, M.
SaaX Hi Martin, just had a quick look at the cheapest option on Screwfix: https://www.screwfix.ie/p/british-general-ip66-13a-2-gang-dp-weatherproof-outdoor-switched-socket/67928. On the BG website I found the technical line drawing: https://www.bgelectrical.uk/uk/wiring-devices/weatherproof-storm/13a-sockets/WP22-02#LineDrawing. It shows a total depth of 8.6cm (a bit less than half of that being the lid) and a typical double socket is 2.5-3.0cm deep, the Shelly Plus 1 is 1.6cm deep. So I would hope it can fit behind - but if that fails: the double socket faceplate is significantly smaller that the waterproof housing, so while it might be tight behind the double socket there must be tons of space around it. Cheers, Axel
