Back with the release of esphome 2025.3.1 IPv6 support had to be removed due to firmware filesize issues.
However, Due to recent optimisations and also a change of intent towards ESP8266 Based devices it is now possible for support to be added back without causing the firmware size issue.

There is some more information included there about the recent optimisations and why I feel its safe to add this functionality back at this stage.
