Smart Plug lost connection

I have had a LocalBytes smart power plug for a while working fine with Tasmota 12.2.0 firmware loaded.
It was configured with a static IP address. It was my mistake that I started a firmware update which seem to work. But now I cannot connect to the plug via my web browser. I can see the IP address in my router connected devices list but cannot even ‘Ping’ it. I have tried to factory resetting the plug by holding the button on the side for a long period without success. Can anyone suggest what I could try now?

Thanks for dropping by. Might I suggest you try the below factory reset?

Cut power from the device completely for 30 seconds

Power the device on and off six times with intervals lower than 10 seconds and leave it on after seventh time. While it may work being quick, a pace of 2 seconds for both the on and off steps recommended.

Fast power cycle device recovery should activate and the device should be reset to firmware defaults

Afterwards, the plug should re-broadcast its hotspot and be ready to be configured. You may have to re-apply the Tasmota template. Please find instructions for that below:

Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for getting back to me. I have tried the six times on/off procedure before, but I think I misread and left it longer than 10 seconds between on/off/on cycles. So I have repeated the process several times with less than 10 seconds about ⅔ seconds still without success.
In the “That Didn’t Work, What Now“, section it implies the only option is to re-flash the device. I have done this before on Sonoff switches but this a closed unit so not sure what to do now!

Since this is a closed unit and since non of the options I have tried seem to work am I to assume the unit is beyond recovery?

Hi @pjvenda ,

That is very odd that this isn’t working. As you rightly noted, the device is a sealed unit and, for safety reasons we can’t recommend customers take the plug apart.

Could you please confirm that when switching the device off, you are cutting power to our plug, rather than pushing the button on the side of the plug?
