Network issues - mdns to begin with

Hi all,
Trying to setup my local deck but having a lot of trouble with the network side of things… Firstly I am convinced that mdns is not working on my network, but also I am not sure the device is staying connected more than a few seconds….

Is there a way to set esphome device builder to not use mdns? I am happy with a static IP address and/or dhcp reserve. Worth disabling mdns in the config as well?

As it stands now I cannot even install a config, the thing just does not stay on the network for long enough… I think I could just revert to not using esphome device builder and push in a new config file manually via the cmd line…

I’m sorry to read your struggling with the LocalDeck.

mDNS would be used for auto-discovery of devices. However, it should not cause the device to lose its connection to the network. For what it’s worth, mDNS is disabled on my network and the only difference it makes is I have to manually specify the LocalDeck’s IP address when adding it in HA.

If the device isn’t staying on your network for long enough for you to apply a configuration, you may have to do it via USB. I suggest trying to get logs off the device using ESP web tools, which you can find below:

Please note that it will only work from a Chromium-based browser.

RebeccaH thanks for the info - I eventually tweaked a few settings and adjusted the ubiquiti WiFi and it’s now working. Also I’ve assigned it a static lease so I know what the IP is even if I disable mdns.
