Tasmota and Alexa

Hi, I'd like to use smart plug functionality though Home Assistant. If I use the Local Bytes smart plug preconfigured for Tasmota (or ESP Home), will my wife still be able to communicate with the same plug through Alexa?

Once the device is in HomeAssistant, it doesn't matter what firmware is on it. The Alexa HA integration will talk to HomeAssistant devices regardless of what's running under the hood.

I'm not super familiar with configuring devices with Alexa directly, that might not work, but if it's all happening through HomeAssistant, you're good!

Tasmota should be able to talk to Alexa via a Hue Emulation, but as @theorangeone has mentioned, it's typically best to have Alexa talk to the plugs via HomeAssistant

@theorangeone and @AAllport : Thank you. For a bear of little brain, connecting to Alexa via homeassistant looked quite daunting (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/alexa/). I hadn't heard of Hue but Google turned up this which might be encouraging (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgeZ1O6J4jc).
I'll get one of the smart plugs preconfigured for Tasmota and give it a go.
