PM plug Bluetooth Proxy

Do the Power monitor plugs support bluetooth proxy? A search highlights the local deck does, but no info about the plugs.

looking through the config yaml suggests they’re ESP8266 based.

I’m concerned that just adding bluetooth_proxy: active: true
might cause issues, as the ESPHome page has a big warning section about compability.

Sadly, the smart plugs do not support the Bluetooth proxy feature. This is because, as you correctly pointed out, they are based on the ESP8266 and this chip does not support Bluetooth.

Ok, thanks for the reply. Would any of your other devices be able to support Bluetooth Proxy?

joele The only device we sell that contains an ESP32 (needed for Bluetooth) is our LocalDeck. This is a product we a proud of, although overkill if you are just after a Bluetooth proxy.

If you just want a bluetooth proxy, and are willing to flash the device yourself (easier than it sounds), I’d suggest getting something like the M5 Stack Atom Light

You can flash it by plugging it into your computer and using ESPHome Webtools straight from your browser.
